A contact lens exam begins with a comprehensive eye exam to assess your overall eye health, including tests for vision, eye focusing, depth perception, and eye pressure. Your doctor will discuss your contact lens preferences, such as color, wear type (daily, weekly or monthly) and options for age-related vision changes and astigmatism.
Next, your Optometrist will take precise measurements of your cornea and pupil size for a proper fit. If you have dry eyes, a tear film evaluation may be done to ensure contact lenses are a suitable option.
Finally, a trial pair of lenses will be fitted and tested for comfort and proper alignment. After wearing them for a week, you have the option to return for a follow-up exam to confirm the fit and prescription.
If you're interested in contact lenses, please let us know when scheduling your appointment so we can allocate extra time for a comprehensive fitting and evaluation.
